gtd pump
Hi. While getting the gtd engine checked it turns out that the diesel pump is knackered. I've still got the pump from the jx and it was refurbished a bit back, doesn't leak etc. Will this be ok on the gtd engine or should it be adjusted/modified in ay way? Cheers

Re: gtd pump
If I recall correctly dave friday has used a JX pump on his SB install without problem, Maybe drop him a PM to find if there are any wrinkles in doing this.

Both pumps are 9mm head so it will work fine however the jx pump lda is at full boost enrichment at around 5 psi so you may find you get a little black smoke as the turbo starts to spool up. In an ideal world swap the lda from the gtd pump to your good jx pump.

Re: gtd pump
Cheers mgp, dave friday also replied to my pm and he, too thinks it's do-able. I'll check with the pump chap to see if the lda is usable. I have to confess that I know bugger all about diesels, particularly the pumps, so I'm likely to return shortly whimpering about something...

Re: gtd pump
Might be an idea to contact the injection pump guru regcheeseman with regards to getting your GTD pump fixed.
There's a really comprehensive guide to setting up the pump timing here for refitting.

Re: gtd pump
Jerry it's a good idea to fit a " EGT"gauge to keep a check on exhaust gas temperature ( I'm very keen on gauges)
MGP thanks for the info on the boost enrichment ( I'm having problems with very high EGT 800deg c!)
The spring on the boost enrichment might be weak?
Kr.

Re: gtd pump
Dave if you have high egt with a standard jx pump you need more boost it sounds wrong I know but you need more air. If more boost makes it worse then your exhaust is too restrictive.

Re: gtd pump
Just another thought what exactly is your pump timed to as if it's retarded to much some of the combustion will be taking place in the exhaust manifold

Re: gtd pump
MGP I think I have a boost leak (only .4bar!) I think the leak is in the boost pipe where I fitted a temperature sensor to check the inlet temperature ( no gauge fitted yet )
Saw your post about timing will check .95mm when last checked
