Can a VW speedshop SS exhaust be made to work with a subaru?

Post by Hoopy_Frood »

I'm hopefully gonna put a scooby engine in my van.

Can I adapt the (fairly new) stainless steel exhaust currently on my DG engine to fit the scooby lump?

No reason why not, you will need new header pipes and suitable flanges for the Subaru heads (available afaik)
Go and talk to an exhaust maker with some info and see what they say.

Hmm, yeah I was wondering what people do for exhausts. I've a Subaru swap in the not too distant future, and have a Speedshop exhaust on the wbx. I guess it depends on the modification cost vs selling it and getting something new made up. I'd be interested to hear what results you find :-)

Wouldn't SyncroDai be a good person to consult regarding this?
Why would the glass be anything other than half full?

any exhaust manifold pipes on the scooby need to be under the engine not at the back because of the plastic cam belt cover I very much any wbx exhaust can be used other than the stock late design and then you need new header pipes and connect to the cast knuckle a la small car
Dai for a new system is the easiest way and sell the wbx one either with or seperately to the old engine

Good point about avoiding the EJ cam belt covers.
I could make good use of a second hand speedshop system (decided to build an engine test rig)

Thanks for the advice.

I think I'll go for selling the speedshop exhaust and then get a scooby compatible one made up eventually.

It'll be on the classifieds soon or message me directly if you're in a hurry.

Cheers
