Photos needed. Part numbers often not helpful with solenoids. Same is true of many VW parts to be honest. You just end up on expensive retailers sites. I won't be around for a day or so but the others should be able to guide you.

This is where I got my solenoid from:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/STARTER-MOTOR ... 1405742694

As far as I can tell from ebay, they don't have any in stock at the moment, but I guess you could phone.
The list of part numbers might also be helpful for a search.

I agree it seems really difficult to locate a source; I dont understand why as this solenoid clearly fits many vehicles.

Good luck

Wow thanks for this! :ok

I did look at this supplier during one of my many hours of searching but was having trouble matching up the part numbers! :?

I have messaged them to see when they might have some in stock...

Will keep you posted.

Thanks,

Chris

Hi, Well the guy on e-bay reckons these are out of stock right across the country and said they were awaiting delivery but didn't know when.

So it looks like the I won't be trying the starter for a bit...

Blimey...these solenoids are rare as hens teeth. Having a nightmare finding one. Someone offered me one from e-bay for £68! I might as well replace the entire starter for that...!

You still have not ascertained that your solenoid is faulty that I have read!
Also - have you tried your local/nearest Bosch agent?

Hi,

Flipping heck - well what I am on doing wrong then when I google - I have been searching for 0331 303 055 starter solenoid and these didn't come up when I looked!? (Sorry you probably think I'm a lazy git who just expects others on here to do there leg work for them but I assure you that isn't the case). Someone else posted on this thread somewhere that these are hard to track down. I guess it is all about experience and knowing where and how to look...
Well massive thank you anyway for these links. Interestingly, the CPS/EVS site is the one that is coming up on ebay with no stock which the guy has been trying to charge me extortionate prices, and yet he seems to have them on here! He sounds like a bit of a cowboy now...
You're right, I haven't 100% ascertained solenoid is fubared but for the price of a new one, ease (or so I thought) and the fact I think I might have fried the old one during testing, I just thought I'd replace it...
It hasn't all been bad though - while I've been waiting to track one of these down, I cracked on with rollering the bottom half of the van both sides. Well happy with the results - I'll post some pics when I can sort Photobucket which seems to have stopped uploading my pics for some reason...
Thanks,
Chris

Keep us updated. I'll wager thats the problem. Should go with a nice 'thunk' and fire that motor up. :D

If it works, pick yourself up a second hand one, rebuild it and keep it in storage.

Will of course keep you posted. :D

Fingers crossed it was that.

Will also be interesting to open up the old solenoid and see if it is crispy inside...

Finally, not wanting to digress on this thread, put can't resist a quick pic or two of the roller progress... 8)

By now you should have got a feel for the paint. Looks excellent actually. A couple of brain-dead individuals continue to dismiss the idea but as you're probably discovering, its possible to achieve an excellent finish and the DVD has gone all over the world including Norway, Italy and Australia. Hope you're pleased :D

Thanks for the comments. 8) Absolutely delighted with it! (got your dvd btw).
Still amazed every time I lay it on - think I've made a right hash of it but within an hour it looks ace! There is only one coat on the pics here at the mo hence a couple of patches but it has two coats on most bits now and it is fantastic.

All about the prep and elbow grease, as per your thread & dvd.

Yes, the number of people who laughed at me when I said I was rollering who are now saying wow! We will all have the last laugh.. :rofl :rofl :rofl
