Wardrobe and Engine cover/hatch
I realised after two years of ownership why my engine hatch Is such a crap design.... because quarter of it has been cut off and screwed down! This seems to have been done because the Wardrobe sits over the edge of it. What solution do others have for this?

Re: Wardrobe and Engine cover/hatch
Cut the bottom of the wardrobe off I'd say
bed is usually raised.

Cheers hitchhiker, I'm surprised you did link that through http://lmgtfy.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I didn't see any pics specifically showing the engine hatch / cupboard. I did think about cutting down the wardrobe but thought I'd check first. So I assume you normally just slide one side in first and deal with th awkward access?

haha! I often wonder too if I can blame autocorrect for comments.
I guess you mean cut it like this?

My bed/rear seat consists of two pieces of ply and two door hinges, the bed lies flat to the engine deck.
three matresses then go on top
similar to this

Or many beds are raised like this, compartment allows hatch to be removed, all in the google image search

New cover, come up often and not expensive, every broken van has one and they never rot.

Re: Wardrobe and Engine cover/hatch
Thanks for that.
Currently my bed only needs to be lifted by an inch... Not a lot of extra storage! I'll have to see if I can jack my bed up a bit.

Re: Wardrobe and Engine cover/hatch
Whoever did that Smosh wants stringing up. I've never had rear cupboards in mine until recently when I got the wardrobe bit. It has the recess so you only need to lift lid slightly and it will pull straight out. I shouldn't think the clearance is much over an inch under the wardrobe edge buts enough to remove the hatch.

I quite agree, apparently he has a motorsport engineering degree...
The worse bit, I never realised until the cupboards were out and I lifted the other side of the carpet!
