lifting out the sliding door

Hello there
I've just joined the ranks and got the family a 1985 To autosleeper. Looks in reasonable condition overall. All rust so far has just been surface rust or a tiny bit deeper.
Have already had the grinder to the worse looking stuff and the patches are small and light.
Anyway I want to lift the sliding door off to make it easier to refinish it along the bottom edge. I have taken off the rail cover and I open the door until I get to the notch....lift the door but I don't seem to be able to take it off the rail
I've read a few posts on this and this seems to be the way others have done it but I can't get it to lift off
Any help would be great
