AAZ Throttle lever stop.

Hi, having just installed a Golf AAZ lump I wasn't overly impressed with the performance and felt that it wasn't accelerating fully and struggled to reach 60-65 mph, taking a look yesterday I backed the throttle stop off 4 threads took it out for a spin and wow, what a difference ! Can someone reassure me that this is OK to do as I have read a couple of threads that say not to start fiddling with this, cheers.
