Finding the birthday/place of your van

Post by KINGPRAWN »

Found a post by somebody(sorry cant remember who) about how to work out the birth history of your van... As usual it's never so straightforward !!.. So here's mine
43 7 6090 UY 2538 C7

X2X2BB 573

HG 034 246

Some I can workout , but the day seems to be the 7 ( Sunday) the explanation says no production on weekends ?
Also says westfalias don't have this plate .. But mine does!
Does this mean something is a bit dubious??

It was probably just a product of an experimental shift pattern or similar.

If you want to know for sure you could fork out £50 for a Heritage Letter from VW. I had to when I imported mine but as a consequence I know the exact date it was manufactured. :ok

I've checked the brickwerks post again. the sample M-plate shows that it was made in the 33rd week of the year, which is in the middle of august. The last row says that bus was the 9302nd of the model year. VW produced around 12000/month, so 9302nd is acceptable in the 3rd week of the model year.
It means the BW sample van was made in the 33th week of august 1986. If the 5th day of the week is correct, then it was mad exactly 15. august 1986. :)

On a friday afternoon, so some mistakes sure happened during the assembly ;)

According to the german wikipedia article, in germany the week begins with sunday http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Woche, so it maybe made on thursday.
