Obd2 bluetooth diagnostic tool

Post by donciuz »

Found some cheap ones on ebay/amazon. Cost around £10 inc delivery. Looks like you can connect your android phone to it and have all the sensor readings and fault codes on your phone. Anyone tried this already on your conversions? I'm running a mk3 golf AHU engine conversion. All the usual fault scanners from my local garage worked on my engine.

I have one unfortunately my ADY conversion is OBD 1 so it doesn't work.
The cheap as chips OBD / USB cable does work though.

Well I looked at all those listings on ebay and came to a conclusion that it is the same thing they all are selling. All of them come from china, all have the same text in the listing that has been copy/pasted with almost no alterations. Most of them even have same mistakes in the text :) It's just the price that's different. So I chose the cheapest :)

I went a bit nuts and bought a Autel MOT Pro EU908 which is the dogs danglys. It retails at about £600 but I bought mine for a bargain £300 and it is worth every penny as it works on all systems of most vehicles on the market.

I also have a cheap Wifi OBD2 dongle thing which I use with my iphone and it works great for info display but is crap for diagnosis.
Cheers
Rob.

I have ordered one of these ! Be interesting to see if it works. Apparently if you download the torque app off play store it works in conjunction with that , it should give you all sorts of readings like MPG, Revs, coolant temp , etc etc.

We shall see ! I will post my results when i get it :ok

Got mine in the mail today. What a disappointment! Connects to the smartphone and works perfectly fine. Just NOT on my AHU converted camper. Tested first on my mates 02 plate Seat Toledo TDI, shows all the readings fine just like in those youtube videos. The app is really fun, although the free version does not have all the functions. But sadly when I plug it to the OBDII connector on my van the device still pairs with the phone, but the app does not get any readings from the ECU. I guess will have to sell it to my mate...

When was your AHU engine produced?
Is it OBDII or OBDI?

Those Bluetooth jobbies only work on OBDII systems, I know I have one sitting dormant in my glovebox.

Well got mine today !............... after about 20 mins trying to find where to plug it in (nicely protected by some shrink wrap), plugged it in, on came the light , turned on blue tooth on my galaxy s3 , started app , and bish bash bosh................. it worked !!!

To be honest I didn't expect that :D haven't had much time to play with it , but the rev counter, turbo boost , temp and even what the accelerator is doing works.
Done a quick diagnostics test and no faults came up (glad of that) !

So all in all not to shabby for a tenner :ok
