Re: TDI Conversion ( Sharan / AFN ) - My Build Diary
ok done more today , got engine running off T25 ignition switch ... kids dont have to start and stop the engine now
cut allt more wires out , still need to get rid of original fuse box , but allot less on it now :
will mount ecu under the rear seat in the end , cut a big hole ( no pics yet ) ...and fed ecu through etc
so i was able to mod the engine lid , to clear alternator :
i know some people cut a complete hole ,then mount a plate on top , but maybe my engine mount has made engine be lower.... so this is all i needed ( so far )

Looking good.
I have trimmed even less on the engine lid. My engine sitting on both original mounts.

still got some problems lol .. but another thing i have noticed is my bite point on the clutch is quite low to the floor ...
is this common ? maybe something not right with the flywheel / clutch setup i purchased ? ?
i seem to have allot of travel on pedal before i feel anything ..

and then exhaust sounded funny when we got down to new forest on the saturday ...then coming into campsite this happend :

so i have now just ordered a custom stainless back box ,and pipes / flexi etc ... 144 quid later ... hopefully it will arrive this week so i can make a new system up

Re: TDI Conversion ( Sharan / AFN ) - My Build Diary
comparing back boxes
making mounting bracket out of stainless
tacked on
this is before i tried it , and found out i had tacked it on the wrong way... so it came off and on again
modded turbo outpipe , only bit still in steal , will re-do one day ....honest
link pipe from back box to turbo flexi
completed system ready to be seam welded
pic of it fitted :
some welds could do with cleaning up .. but no time ...
so 144 quid , plus 20 quid from brickwerks for some new rubber mounts ...
if people want details of the company who does the back boxes let me know , they are around 60 quid plus postage.
