Aidan - we have a winner! Having that rear bush plate loose, was the key. Got all the gears and nice smooth motion too, not too much porridge at all.

I can’t quite make out these digits, but it should be an ASM gearbox, according to the factory white sticker.

Image

Pulling the boot this far down was a mistake, it just pulls it off the band at the top, leave a 10mm visable gap at the bottom.

Thanks IrishKeet - keep um rollin’

Bloke down the rub-a-dub just offered to buy it off me! I think I’ll keep it. Too much gone into this one :)

The gearbox code for a 5 speed is on the left hand side of the gearbox, low down going underneath, just forward of the drive shaft.

..........so you would have passed the Diesel and Electric preservation shed at Williton where I was volunteering today. Mine was the white pop top T25 in the car park. Anyone hopping off the train at Williton or otherwise passing by is welcome to pop in and say hello. Find us at depg.org

Tyre Pressures:

A x B / C

A: Maximum pressure stamped on the tyre
B: Actual weight at that wheel (1/4 the weight of your van)
C: Maximum weight stamped on tyre

Example:
65psi x 400kg / 950kg = 27psi

^ Just a rule of thumb, however I normally start at 30psi cold & see how it feels. If you feel the tyre walls wobbling, add some more. This is especially relevant to those running stock 185/80r14’s. The tyre pressures will increase with heat, so you’ll find after a good drive, they’ll be about 3psi higher.

Finally found the issue with my fog light not working, it was this 10A fuse. Haynes refers to the fog light fuse as S6 / position 6, as does the index on the back of the fuse cover but NO! it’s this one. I’ve spent hours on this! I think it’s fuse position 23, not sure? The grey/white wire was the key, as it’s this colour on pin 4 on the rear lens connector.

Haynes, refers to a S27 / position 27 fuse, but I’ve only got 24 fuse positions on the fuse box.
Relay 15, again I’ve only got 11 relay positions on my fuse box.
I guess this schematic is a bit 'generic'

Oh well, all fixed now. Maybe this'll help someone else.

For a bit of clarification - Fuse 6 is for the front fogs, where fitted.

Fuse 27 in relay position 15 is for the single rear fog light.

It can get more confusing with fuses in the 40s.
(For the camper interior electrics - "under the back seat").

And in the 50s
(In the engine bay and in the main fuse box).

You have to love these crazy German wiring diagrams.
