I like the sound of that Clive. So you would be leaving Dunkirque at 00.00? on **/04/2010 and hoping to get to the Mammy when? Id be on for that run.

Maybe Ive missed this bit but how are people getting on with european recovery quotes?.
We have just been looking and there are some very high figures being mentioned because of the age of the vehicle.
Anybody have any advice?

I tried asking my insures, there reply was i had to request it when i stared the policy. I asked RAC how much to add europe to my uk cover and i think it was £90 but it is Glass guide value when it comes to a claim, AA was miles more.

As its under a month away I thought its about time I sorted some ferrys.
So, 0400 on the 28th - should get to France in decent time to find a local Quassant stockest - yum yum!
Not sure what to do about traveling over to Mammut - quite possubly just press on over there at a leasurely 90km/h - if something comes up or I see something interesting en route I can deal with it.
Return 2200 monday 3th - bit of a haisty retreet but needs must.
Not got round the brakedown stuff yet, anyone asked Glynwoods? Know what they'll say/whats the deal?
My dad rang up the RAC today for some cover for his T5 for a trip he's doing this week (totally random he mentioned it actully - we are all on the same family polocy) - they said something like £30 [for the trip] but if the vehicle is over a certain age (he was enquireing because he was thinking about taking his Land-Rover abrord later in the year which at 55 years old is quite a bit over the age limit, thus he didn't say /was bothered what the limit was - 15 years maybe? ) Anyway if too old they add a 90% surcharge BUT if your in an aproved owners club for the vehicle in question they wave the charge (unlike UK recovery it only aplies to a spacific vehicle, not the person like here). Is syncronauts or 8090 recognised as an owners club by the RAC? If not I wonder whats required to be.

Good point... we should investigate further.
being an MSA affiliated club doesn't I think confer the required RAC status... might even do the opposite

made one final phone call this evening to our current recovery agent, Britannia Rescue, who have given us a 100% excellent service with the family over the years. Only to find, "No problem sir, that will be £16 to upgrade you to our Deluxe Cover.
Looked this up on their website and Deluxe cover also includes European Cover @£69.50 per year on one named vehicle, no age limit on the vehicle; DEAL DONE!!

got thinking about the trip to day as we had to renew our insurace on the camper, so we are taxed mot'ed insured and have the relay just in case, dont for get to tell you insurance company that you will be driving abroard, we had to let them know the dates so that we are covered (full cpmp) you will be covered 3rd party if you dont let them know.
any how dose any one know what sort of sevices are at the site. hook up, water etc

Might be in luck then? Aparently for the Land-Rover they didn't recognise the series 1 club directly but they did recognise it as a member of the ALRC, which is the proper MSA afileated club network thing - wondered why they recognised that organisation instead of the tipical owners clubs, maybe thats why and that then ment the owners clubs didn't need to be recognised directly?
