We spent a day travelling through on our way back last year.....last time i stayed was 30 years ago on a school trip! Amazingly i still remembered loads of places. Its certainly a place that needs more time.

Just added Gorge du Verdon as a place to visit
We are sailing at 9.25am and going straight for home. That gorge area looks nice doesn't, I'll look out for the Heffa!

We love pootling along the Loire.
Saumur is a well know place to stop along the Loire but there are, in my opinion nicer, less touristy places.
Amboise is like a mini Saumur with a lovely town - reasonably priced municipal site there too.
We also stopped another year at Langeais - again a very cheap municipal and a lovely little town but with a large chateau right in the middle of the town. We stopped for a couple of beers in the shadow of the chateau.
A couple of times we have started at Tours and driven along the Loire just stopping here and there as we fancied it.
