not starting VW Holdsworth petrol 1984

Hi all, hope you have been enjoying a bit of decent weather today.
Van has been laid up over winter, and have got mot booked for next week. Van is not playing ball as does not start ], Checked usual things plugs/ cleaned, distributor cleaned and blown out. filled carb with small amount  of petrol through strainer, and appeared to  try to start. Any other things I should look at? 
Many Thanks for any assistance, from people that know a lot more about these vans than I do!

I'm a novice on these but are you getting petrol to the carb? I'm certainly not, my issue is that I can't figure out how to get at the 2nd bolt on the fuel pump.

Pour fuel in the top of the carb a few times , the fuel runs back to the tank and needs a little help getting back up
