Water temperature gauge and sensor advise.

Post by Raido »

Hi, I have recently purchased a 1987 1.9 Petrol T3. Unfortunately the water temperature gauge doesn’t work and have removed the plug from the sensor, this is the sensor that faces the front of the van which I understand from reading up on it is the correct one. My question, if I connect with a piece of wire the two terminals within the plug should this activate my gauge assuming the gauge is okay!

Correct …. If the gauge and wiring are good shorting the connection will give FSD of the gauge and red flashing over temp light

Thanks Steve, If that doesn’t work is there anything else I can look at? I have hard wired the dash using a purchased kit as the original printed one was rubbish which I thought might be the culprit.
