Power loss please help.

Post by Chrishunt »

Hi peeps, I’ve got a bit of a problem with my T3 single cab. I had a problem start with a faulty alternator that’s been replaced and problem resolved so I thought. It’s now just cutting out if it wants and won’t even try and turn over the starter.
Then it will start after 5 min?

Last night I was driving it back and the stereo went off, the dash lights started to dim and then the headlights went. Managed to get home then it wouldn’t start. It’s now on charge and I really don’t know where to start looking.
It had a Subaru legacy engine fitted end of 2021 by a very reputable firm.
Then some mechanic changed the heater fan and pcb for a slaughter house custom replacement lighting unit.
Now I’m getting no end of problems any help would be much appreciated.

Good reputable local mobile motor vehicle electrician armed with a good brew and a copy of the wiring diagram/notes the reputable engine conversion company gave you and the phone number for 'some mechanic' who did the other work and access to a laptop for downloading whatever else he requires

have you tested batter voltage after a 30 min rest and battery voltage with engine running.

It could be as simple as the voltage regulator on the alty.

These vans are very simple machines and much can be diagnosed, fixed with a relative simple tool kit

It’s got a Subaru engine and the alternator doesn’t have one. It’s had a brand new alternator. And no not tested after 30 min only after I got it running again.

Just trying to find on on the island that’ll turn up Image the engine was fitted and before I could get it back to the island it needed an mot and some other work doing. So I found someone to do the work got it done then drove over picked it up and got it home. All fine till just before Xmas. Been driving it about trouble free for 4 months then the alternator died as it wasn’t charging. Now it’s just playing up.
