CB Performance/Brosol Solex carbs

Post by callyspoy »

Hi folks,
When i bought my van it came with progressive weber. I've not had it running well (as seems to the norm) so tried to find some Solex carbs.
I ended up with Brosol carbs, which i know aren't genuine Solex, but the best i could get on with.

Has anybody had these fitted to their CU engined van? I bought some jets for them and the bigger venturis (standard is 22mm in the Brosol ones, now 28mm).
It is coking up the plugs really quickly and is completely gutless.
Does anybody have any pointers on what jets etc they have? I ordered jetting sizes that would suit the standard Solex as per the Haynes and a set of slightly larger mains due to the venturi being 2mm bigger than a standard solex PDSIT now.

Any basic jetting ideas appreciated. I have a pair of motorcycle vacuum gauges that i am using with it. No snail sadly.

main jet originally was 132.5 but that's all I can see on the parts catalogue now so many parts have been obsolete for so long now

I have a reasonable working knowledge of the original Solex carbs,  but no experience of the Borsol version. Can anyone confirm if it's a design copy, same jets etc?

Hello,

Brosol... Widely used in Brazil and Argentina. Made in Brazil

What model of carbs please?

Photos of the engine bay and carb set up will help.

These carbs are basically a copy of the earlier Solex, many of the 'VW' carb overhaul kits contain Brosol parts.
Overhaul kits, jets and air brakes are available here:

Hope this is helpful..

I am away all January in Argentina where there are still plenty of these...
