JK 'extra thick' chrome bumpers
Has anyone tried Just Kampers' 'extra thick' chrome bumpers? What's the fit like, and the quality of the chrome? I'm well aware of the pitfalls of their 'show chrome' versions, but these are not those - they're described as 'best quality' and '2.3mm factory thick steel'. I know there's an excellent product available from Brickwerks, but the JK rear bumper is almost £200 cheaper, which is hard to ignore.
So, as above, how's the fit, and has anyone had them long enough to comment on the quality of the chrome?

2.3mm is pretty thick! Are the factory ones really that thick?

I have the original chrome bumpers - yes they are very thick and the chrome doesn't come off when the bumpers are bent either.

Re: JK 'extra thick' chrome bumpers
Just measured my standard black bumpers at 2mm
Re: JK 'extra thick' chrome bumpers
Yeah, 2.3mm does seem substantial - much better than the rubbish aftermarket bumper I've got at the moment, which is about as thick as a beer can.
But I'd hate for us to focus on the wrong detail
I've heard stories of bumpers that don't fit well, with mounting holes that aren't quite in the right place, and BW mention sharp edges on some aftermarket bumpers, and I know some chrome corrodes badly. So I was hoping someone with experience of these 2.3mm JK bumpers could comment on the fit and the chrome quality.
They're on special offer with JK at the moment - VAT-free till midnight - after which they'll go back up to £180. So I've ordered a pair and will report back. Unfortunately I won't be able to test fit the rear bumper as it'll need notching to fit round my tow bar, but the fit of the front one should give me a fair idea. If I'm not happy with the fit I'll send them back.

I'd like them but I struggle to spend that on what can only be described as bling when there are other things that are functional and needed.

That's exactly how I've felt about them, but I need a new rear bumper anyway, and since the tin worm has taken hold my van is soon going to be getting some serious TLC in the bodywork department, so I can justify the bling as part of that expenditure.

Chris, I know you’ve bought them now but you could get them blasted and powder coated - won’t have to worry about the rust again:

That said, I do like the look of the chrome bumpers.

Re: JK 'extra thick' chrome bumpers
Thank you, that does look really good. My front bumper is original and would probably be worthy of that treatment, but for my rubbish rear bumper it would be throwing good money after bad.

Re: JK 'extra thick' chrome bumpers
(Sorry for the slight hi-jack) I have some original VW chrome bumpers in my loft.
I guess they aren't available from VW any more. Seeing how much some of the traders are asking for repro are they worth anything significant?
Thanks,
Ben.

In the blurb below the Brickwerks listings they state that they can obtain genuine VW replacements, but they state that they're almost three times the price of the aftermarket versions they sell. Given that their aftermarket rear bumper is ~£340, that would make the VW items technically 'eye watering'! So I'd say that your original bumpers have value, yes, depending on condition.

Re: JK 'extra thick' chrome bumpers
Not if they are used. Scrap value to be honest if someone was being generous. I’d give you £30 for the pair?
