Ign lead metal Shrouds
Andrew Campershack told me he always removes these as they are more trouble than they are worth. I cannot remember the reason, as it was a few years ago. Question is what their purpose in the first place.

Re: Ign lead metal Shrouds
Electromagnetic screening, in conjunction with carbon leads. In the days of AM radio it was more important.

Re: Ign lead metal Shrouds
Ahh right. My present leads are shroudless and i don't listen to the radio. So no problems. but i shall be buying a new set of leads and was wondering if i should remove them or leave them on.

I wish i could remember Andrews reason for removing them. Hopefully, he will see this post and refresh my memory.

Re: Ign lead metal Shrouds
I read about this a while ago before replacing my leads. Something about misfire /sparks jumping from the shroud to the cylinder head. I've still got mine as i don't have an issue with them.

Re: Ign lead metal Shrouds
Thanks, David.I think that was probably Andrews explanation.

Re: Ign lead metal Shrouds
That was it.
I've cured poor running on several vans by removing the shrouds. Ask chucklebus Tom. The difference on his MV was dramatic!
New leads with good insulation should be fine, only remove them if you're having problems.
