2.1 DJ cutting out

Post by sages »

Hi guys, I'm looking for a bit of knowledge on the injection system as my vans like to cut out sometimes. I've got new ht leads, plugs, distributor cap, rotor, fairly new coil, all new intake hoses, new fuel lines, filter, rebuilt the air flow meter and the engine has only done like 40000 miles so I can't imagine it'll be anything internal. The symptoms are mainly from cold the van will drive just fine then after like 5 minutes or so it'll lose power and either stall while I'm driving or when I stop it'll idle really poorly as if it's missing on 2 cylinders and then it'll die. Sometimes when stationary I can pick the revs up but sometimes it just starves itself. The problem is only intermittently.

If anyone could shed some light on this or give me some advice on what to check next it would be massively appreciated. :D

Many thanks,
Morgan

clean up the alternator connections as if the feed to the relays controlling fuel and ecu drops out it will stall

when it stalls does it restart okay ?

dj manual is on syncrosport website

Thanks I'll try that later on! When it stalls, it'll just crank and it sounds as though it's not firing, either there's no spark or no fuel in my mind. After like 5-10 minutes It'll crank over and fire up fine and then it might not do it again all day or for the rest of the week.
