Re: 2 Trailing Arms replacement - Advice required
When I ordered mine I bought the wrong side and had to pay to return it adding insult to the injury done to my pockets.

Despite appearances, left and right trailing arms are actually identical, the only difference being one is flipped and the strengthening rib inside reversed

And of course suspension spring turret...but l didnt notice internal difference when overhauling mine. I must of missed that important bit. I was going to keep an old one and flip as necessary and reweld turret on appropriate side

With a thick enough spring plate, the rib isn't actually needed The real issue tends to be pivot points.

Oh well. Live and learn. Both rotten and perhaps re-useable went the tip. Bad move me thinks

Re: 2 Trailing Arms replacement - Advice required
Just to bring a bit of closure to this story, both trailing arms all done!
If anyone is contemplating this job with a garage. I'd recommend to purchase full trailing arm kit (2 if you require both sides), from Brickwerks, the kit is quality!
A reciprocating saw is a necessity, in this situation to cut down labour time. Give the garage carte blanche authorisation, to replace everything, as they can reciprocate saw any bolts off, which really saves you massive labour time and cost to yourself, than trying to undo the bolts etc.
I found in this situation, giving the garage the full material and authorisation, it assisted them in achieving the target much sooner than expected.
My tip get prepared beforehand!

Squirt a load of dinotrol in it. Trailing arm is a big job but i'll last for years so money well spent.

Thanks, what the best application way to get it in there, does Dinotrol do a spray version with tube?
Now looking at them on, glad I went brand new, just puts the whole issue to bed for years now. Gotta get 4 wheel alignment done later in the week.
My VW Speedshop SS exhaust should also be coming later in the the week. Hopefully fitment will proceed fine and that will be another issue dealt with same way as trailing arms!

Yes they do cans. When I bought it I then had to buy separarate straw nozzles which was an annoying delay. Loved my Speedshop replaced with a Longlife which (for me) is way too loud. May sell it and go back to a Speedshop

Ok had a look and some Dinotrol on ebay have a flexible tube attachment.
I had a Longlife on a previous vehicle years ago one and that was way loud. The annoying thing was when I had it installed I said the garage I didn't want it loud!
Looking forward to getting the VW Speedshop one on, sounds like it has a great tone!

Funny I also said I didn't want it loud. It's the same length so it must be the elliptical shape of the speedshop that manages the noise level.

What trailing arms and exhaust or just trailing arms?
I don't mind telling people if they PM, just prefer not to air the financials here!
