Newbie

Hi guys, I'm Mike. New to the VW scene, I've bought a T3 Syncro.

Unfortunately on the way home from buying it the engine through a wobbly and put a hole in the crank... The rest of the journey was on a yellow taxi.

So even before I'd got the old girl home, I was in doubts and love was lost. This was supposed to be a fun camper project for myself and the good lady. After speaking with a few people it has now had a recon engine 2.1DJ fitted and will be home again with me next week.
Obviously the running in process will be slow but it'll be a worthy investment and soon be made into the vehicle I hope it will be. I'm a Land Rover man and travel to N.Africa at least once a year so I'll be keen to see how the syncro works out.

I look forward to getting to meet some likeminded enthusiasts, is anyone attending the Overland show next week?

Regards, Mike.

Hi Nick, I will be there with my new Syncro, first outing. I bought it in October last year, it looks like quite a few people on the forum were watching it on ebay. Still can't believe how good it is, in fact it is too good. I bought it to convert from panel van into high roof camper for a road trip to South Africa. I can't bring myself to cut it, put windows and roof in it. I would appreciate peoples views on this as it is 32,000 miles 1 family owner and all original, with FSH. Panel van Syncro, factory sun roof, full bulkhead and as it left the show room, I can't believe it is 32k as it looks like 3,200miles. The inside is as clean as the outside and never been used in the back. Phil

Hi mate, no I didn’t look into it any further to be honest. Just waiting for it to come back next week from the engine shop.

I did however find the previous owner in Poland who restored it last year, it’s had a comprehensive rebuild to be fair so I’m looking forward to getting to know the old bus.

Hi, no it was on the forum viewtopic.php?f=4&t=161589 30th August last year. It just had to be bought, it was viewed at a petrol station in the dark, I have been buying vehicles since I was 14 (now 60) and this is by far the best I have ever bought. Cheers Phil
