Hi guys,
We were on our way for a holiday trip and the gearbox has decided not to come out of 4th gear and looks knackered. I can't read the current code fitted atm as it's going on the truck, I've been looking at prices or rebuilds vs buying a Recon box. Can anyone tell me if there's a difference between ALD and Apf boxes as they have the same gear measurements according to the net.
ALD boxes seem much more available so hoping I can use that?

Apf and ALD gearboxes, are they the same fitment?

I think you mean ABF
ABF is a 1.6 n/a diesel box has a 5.83 final drive, 6/35 crown and pinion set and a 0.85 fourth gear
ALD is a 1.7 n/a diesel box and has a 5.5 final drive again with a 0.85 fouth gear
ALD is 6% quicker for the same revs which is the difference in power between the 1.6 and 1.7 engines
Your van should have the ALD, original box was probably swapped for a used earlier ABF when the 3rd 4th synchro hub broke

Thanks aiden, I was looking at the site below and it shows aps as fitting 1.7d as well as the ALD a s that's what i wasn't sure about as they have the same drive measurements etc

I think ALD seems like the best option so I guess I'll just look out for one of those!

APF is the ultra rare LSD equipped equivalent of ALD you are very unlikely to come across one of them over here
