I could not justify the 200 quid in the end so I bought this one

Weighs a lot but why it hold you want to carry it. Lifts up to 52cm, and just slips under my Mini (not MINI) too.

Good choice :ok

Mines a bit redundant at present with the van in my garage currently - I can only lift it about 4 inches before it hits the roof struts inside the garage :rofl

I was very lucky, I saw an ad for a second hand Halfords long chassis 3 tonne quick lift trolley jack, £50!

I called the guy straight away, he was surprised as he had only posted it 10 mins before.

Tripped on down to Edinburgh and picked it up, it was like new, apparently only used about 6 times! Bargain.
Used it straight away to change a drive shaft gaitor. One long pump on the handle and it was straight up to the jack point, another couple of small pumps and it was in perfect position.

This was last summer, had a look on Halford website but that model is no longer stocked, been replaced with a different model which to my mind looks a lot smaller (shorter).

As for the ramps always driven on with no probs, getting off............... that's a different matter  guess who forgot the chocks at the front, spat the ramps out the back, lucky nothing nearby as they ejected at great speed and the van came down with a thump! No damage but a lesson learnt!

Right Gang,

Need some advice here.

My handbrake cable is binding on nearside and need to get back wheels off.

Have a bottle jack but it doesnt lift the wheels enough off the ground so I can put my axle stands under.

I could ( and should) buy a trolley jack but any ideas?? Would this do ??

I used to have something similar from Woolworths and managed for a while with added blocks of wood to get the required lift, but it gave up the ghost in time, inconveniently if I recall... Lasted a couple of years tho!
