Right another update. Forgive me if i'm being a numpty. Put the accelerator to the floor (brick on it),pipe on secondary choke, sucked hard-opened choke, held vacuum on the tongue but can only open it fully (remaining 2 maybe 3mm at a push) by operating the lever down there by hand. Going to try the new ignition amp'.
David.

Re: lumpy/rough running
it should open freely by sucking not sure about the last couple of mm but it sounds ok
did you pinch the metal tabs together?
if nothing else you have learmed a thing or two doing these tests.
did you clean the tiny conical fuel filter in the carb inlet?

Yes, definitely learnt something, thanks. Going to pick up Robs ignition amp' and give it a go. Also got a fuel pump push rod coming, thought I may as well for a few quid. No I haven't pinched the tabs yet
... they are already quite tight but i wll get the feelers out.
As for the filter in the carb I've got a feeling I didn't put it back after the last time i checked it when I was doing some rd side investigations in Dec last year. It's not there now anyway.
David.

Re: lumpy/rough running
Evening, think it's sorted. New ignition amp' on and went for a drive down the bypass, managed to keep it in 5th without changing down/loosing power. Put on a new fuel pump push rod and it's now pulling well again. I'll see how it behaves this weekend. I gave the outside of the carb and all the odds and sods a good clean and pinched the tabs around the plastic on the secondary choke lever too. Going to order a new cone filter and a Brickwerks re build kit. Thanks to Rob for lending me his spare amp' and Itchy and everyone else for being patient with me

Excellent
did you do the ignition amp first? sounds like it.
If so everything else is not the cause but worth doing.

Re: lumpy/rough running
My advice to everybody with a T25 long term buy all the spares as you find them cheap and tinkier.
