Autosleeper Hi Top strip out

Post by islandboy »

I'll be putting my Autosleeper Hi top in to the garage after Christmas to have the top taken off and all the rot underneath dealt with plus new gutters and other bits attended to.
I want to strip out the inside of all the storage, bunk bed and anything else required so that the garage will have access to remove the Hi Top.
Had a search on these forums and Youtube but couldn't find anything.

Any guidance on where to start and any tips would be greatly appreciated.

There's a little bit of help in this thread on one of the trickier areas

I have stripped out a LeisureDrive interior. Just start unscrewing what you can to reveal more bits to remove, if I remember correctly I did it in a few hours

Many thanks, one of the links ends up showing how to remove the rear cupboard which is really helpful.

Might invest in some good hard drills for dealing with rotten screw heads !

let us know how you get on with this as I would be too scared to see what mines like with the top off, if I had the money to get it done

I think its still knocking around in my bits and pieces box. Didn't seem to give out much light. "White box" is a chinese LED headlight, taken apart, folded out and mounted with a diffuser plate over the front. Gives loads of light with low consumption.

Hi,
You should not have too much trouble.
Up front.... remove the cupboard doors then un screw the crockery cupboard but leave in place.. The crock cupboard has some small angle brackets fixing it in place. Next remove vertical sheet. The ply sheet over the cab is screwed down if I remember rightly. Trouble is the screws, I think, were put in before the carpet. You just have to feel around for the heads.
At the rear. The small locker should come out with the upper floor. You might not need to remove the side boxes but I cannot help there as I have never removed them. The ply sheets over the cab etc are not necessarily in one piece.
Hope this little bit of info helps.
It might save a couple of pennies if you can dig/scrape/remove sealant along the sides before the garage has it. That is a time consuming job.

I don't seem to have any signs of rust or decay problems in my Leisure drive high top and without doing some intrusive digging about I am not sure how to find any problems. I can't see any bolts or fixing method and wonder if the high top is simply "stuck" on. If so then maybe I need to determine the life of the adhesive system.
Anyone know how the high top is retained as I should hate for it to go flying so to speak?

Making progress !! Got all the rear bed and shelf unit off. The rear cupboard came out quite easy after dealing with rotten screws. Many thanks for the tips.
Now left with the box sections left and right where strip lights and leisure electrics are. Is it a case of peeling off the carpet lining and looking for fixing screws ?
Any suggestions much appreciated.
