Tyre 'Aspect ratio' (I think)

Post by 1664 »

I'm after new tyres and am trying to look around on t'internet. The tyres on my camper are 185R14C 102/100P 8PR and 185R14C 102/100R 8PR. There are no other size markings on them.
On pretty much every tyre website I have been on when you input the tyre size you are interested in they want more than bog standard 185R14C, They want 185, 'aspect ration', R14 and C. So what is the aspect ratio of a bog standard tyre on a bog standard 14" factory steel wheel? The options generally go from 50 to about 90 in increments of 5 (depending on which website). Obviously the websites wont even let you look at their stock without this part of the tyre size being inputted.

Ebay on the other hand pops up hundreds if you just type in 185R14C so its not the end of the world but I did want to see what else is out there to make a more informed choice.

Anybody know?

185R14 is generally taken to mean 185/82 R14. Similarly 205R16 is generally taken to mean 205/82 R16.

Thanks for that but the websites i have been on have a drop down list with closest selections of 80 or 85. I will try any sites where I can manually input the figure though.

Thanks again :ok

If profile isn't stated then its 80 or 82 per cent. Use 80 for tyre size searches.

Yeah thats what I have been doing

Ebay choices seem to be cheaper overall but then of course that's not always the best option for stuff like tyres, brake pads and safety stuff, but least I now have more to compare.

:ok

Blackcircles, Camskill or Pneus are all worth checking for tyre prices.
