Not sure, the race is still in the hub. Am i supposed to be able to push this all the way to the beginning of the wider part of the stub??
Might have it wrong way round also, but I just wanted to see if it sat flush on stub. Easy jobs always go wrong for me

Re: Passenger Side wheel Problem
This is how the bearings look.
They don't look like yours
Are you sure that it's even the correct one?

The bearing in your picture is the wrong way around

Sorry would make more sense if I showed the new ones.
This as far as I can put them on
I orderd the late ones as the van is an 87 year, are the early ones wider??

Re: Passenger Side wheel Problem
Earlier bearings are smaller diameter
Have you measured the bearing diameter?
22x45.236

Re: Passenger Side wheel Problem
All bearings will have a width, an inner diameter and an outside diameter.
The first value is the inner diameter
And the second is the outer
Do your new bearings match those values?
Did you force the bearing on to the stub?

22x45
i did give the old ones a nudge with a drift just so i could get the washer and nut on. The outer bearing was sticking out too much, hence, should it sit flush in hub with no knocking?

Re: Passenger Side wheel Problem
Think I might need a stub axle??
Only thing I can think of is when the old bearings went kaput it would have damaged the knuckle??
The only way I can get outer bearing flush with break disk is by knocking the bearing on with a hammer (used a socket head) to keep it flush. Its in now, slight play. But not happy washer and nut on. Though it was difficult to find thread on stub.
Is it difficult to replace the stub axle?? Seen a second hand one on ebay for £35

Re: Passenger Side wheel Problem
I would be looking for a low milage one
You can't get new IIRC
That forced bearing will wear quicker

Re: Passenger Side wheel Problem
You might want to check your inner bearing is sitting properly, I seem to remember some have a spacer behind the bearing (that the seal sits on) and some don't, maybe someone else can clarify that.
If the inner is not sitting pretty, it will upset the outer bearing's position.
You shouldn't have to hammer the outer bearing onto the shaft, it should be a close but sliding fit, maybe yours got a bit mangled when the bearing failed, a gentle clean up (with a small file) of any mangled points on the shaft might help. don't get too aggressive with the file though.
Can you post a pic of the shaft without the bearing on it?
P.S. please don't use that chisel anywhere near your bearings!! you shouldn't need to get aggressive with anything in that area.
