Football corner

Postby Ralf85 » 19 Jul 2017, 20:54

I've not been a great fan of womens' football but I thoroughly enjoyed the England v Scotland game tonight. The England side is looking organised and the women are enjoying their game. Excellent! :ok

Yes Skirtland looked completely out of their depth.
England were just to organised for them.
It was a classic women against girls

That was a tough game against Spain tonight but the England women got a 2-0 win, in appalling wet conditions. Spain are a good side but what impressed me about our women is they worked hard and covered for each other when under the cosh. The men's team could learn from this. I'm looking forward to the next game now.

QPR 0 - Bournemouth 1. We had a fundraiser today for dear Stan Bowles who has alzheimer's. An excellent turnout from our supporters and a big thank you to Bournemouth for their input. A useful friendly for us in advance of our first game of the season next week. :)

England 1 - France 0. Under the cosh for most of the game but those tough women won. Great performances all round Jodi Taylor scored her fifth goal superb but Milly Bright was a mountain in defence, my player of the team so far.

QPR 2 - Reading 0. We should have won by a few more goals but for profligate shooting and an upright. Our passing and interceptions were superb - we can't keep this pace up for many games.

Reading were dreadful. They've sold players but this team is a disunited mess. Still, we'll take three points in what is in effect a local derby. We had smiles on our faces both during and after the match.

Football? Does National League North count as football? York City with so much hype and promise sit at the bottom of the 6th tier!!! Oh dear. I still think they'll finish top of this division though. As long as their luck changes. Hit the post and crossbar on several occasions. One Telford attack in the first half and they scored!

Wolves 1 - 0 Middlesborough
Good start for our new manager Nuno.
Wolves have spent a lot of money for this coming season.

I thought so too, but it turns out that the king of games, rugby union, is also football. Who'da thunk it!?
Anyway, I think the one they speak of is called association soccer, or something.

I was pleased with our result at Sheffield Wednesday, yesterday. A draw feels like a good result. I wasn't there yesterday but I have been there many times and watched us lose so often. :)

Wahey! Cardiff are top of the League! Okay, it's only two games and two wins, but you've got to make the most of these things. Villa were very poor, and looked toothless. They need to sign a couple of decent strikers pronto, or they're going to struggle all season.
