Help problem with Devon hinge rivets

Post by 69gp225 »

Hello.

Got my van back from the upholsterers. Nice job but:
The roof seems to drop front first and two of the rivets
Are pulling through the hinge at the front?

I think maybe he mixed the horizontal and vertical struts
When reinstalling them?

What do I do with the rivets?

Do I drill them out and use a bigger rivet?

Any suggestions

Going camping soon so need to sort it.

im in the process of doing a full body resto on my t 25 devon . the roof hinges on mine were a bit iffy .

I cut some reinforcing plates from 4 mm ally sheet and bonded these on to the inside of the fibre glass roof , drilled out the old rivets , and bolted the the whole lot back on with stainless dome head socket screws .

the original rivets are a bit of a pain to drill out and care must be taken not to drift off centre .

I did the same with the locking catches too .
