Holdsworth Roof Clean

Post by nesty »

Anyone got any advice on how to clean a really grubby Holdworth's flat roof.

Obviously jet wash. Though has anyone used any recommend car wash stuff for really shifting the dirt?

Might want to be careful with jetwashing, it can be damaging if the gel coat is old and degraded.

Personally I would use good old fashioned elbow grease, detergent and a small brush.

If the roof has little black dots all over it I tried several methods to remove them and found the best was elbow grease and this cleaner from Lakeland.

Takes a while but worth it in the end ;-)

Hi,
I have used this 3M stuff http://www.marinescene.co.uk/product/87 ... 0wod270O5A to clean the gel coated Devon roof.
I cleaned it with a normal car shampoo first the used a but of elbow grease. Gave good results. if the black marks are very stubborn you may want to use some https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/5k6/Fenwicks ... B000W45JBO

Hope that helps

Hi

I use Autoglym CARAVAN & MOTORHOME CLEANER. Its great stuff and gets all the green off the roof.

Many thanks for the replies. Much appreciated.
Basically to get bad grime off & sap. It's near lime trees.

I follow a car detailing (means washing) page and those nutters all seem to use citrus car wash, which you can find if you google it. A lot use snow foam which 'hangs' on the paint slowly lifting the grime, but from what I've read this looks a bit of a gimmick. You do see some epic 'cleans' by some of these guys though. No personal experience to offer I'm afraid.

I cleaned my fibre glass hightop this weekend.

It seemed much easier than normal, which I linked to a good layer of frost over the top. The dirt 'seemed' stuck to the frost and so hot bucket of water with Autoglym car shampoo and it came off easier than any other time.

(Mine was especially dirty as we are having a few houses built next door to us. The dust and regular bonfires have made a right mess of my roof!!)

Try using Silky caravan cleaner. It was recommended to me some years back and I use it to clean my poptop. Non abrasive cleaner and I think it works really well and it is not expensive.
