Hello,
Please don't shout because its a T4 its 1997 so should be OK haha
Sometimes when approaching lights/roundabout and slowing to a stop the engine starts to make a really loud tapping noise.
If I rev the engine the noise goes away and may or may not come back later depending if the van can be arsed to be consistent enough!
Alot of people I have spoken to go straight to the common diesel engine fault with brake servo's and if you pump the brake pedal the noise goes away. That does not happen when I try.
Can anybody help with some advice? things to check etc?
Thank you in advance.

Diesel engines need the vacuum pump for the servo where as the petrols run the servo straight off the inlet manifold so you wont have one!
First thing id be doing is taking cambelt cover off and checking belt tension and tensioner.

Right well the top cover is off because I have recently replaced the cambelt and tensioner. Could it be I've done it to tight or lose? The timing is correct or was correct should i say but I've covered a few miles since then. What's your thinking? Timing slip? Tight belt?
