Petrol to diesel conversion
Could someone point me in the direction of a good thread for this as I'm sure there must be plenty on here, I just can't seem to find them!
I have a 1.9 petrol with 5 speed box which I'm looking at converting to a 1.9tdi so just want to have a look at a couple of threads and work out which way to go and work out what I'll need for my shopping list!
My main drive for doing this is I use WVO in my car and would like to run the van on it so I'm looking at a pre-PD engine.

This is one, but it's not for everyone and I'd go upright next time, but it's worked very well since I installed it in 2012.
E D I T. is not petrol-to-diesel as such, you'd have to buy the diesel-specfic engine-mountings, sump and plumbing. You can get all the factory drawings of how it fits together, part numbers and so on off partsbase.org which has a 'mirror' of the data in the VW ETKA software.

Re: Petrol to diesel conversion
Cheers for the reply.
There's been a slight change in plan as I've picked up a Felicia straight 1.9 diesel with low miles and, as my quest is good mpg and be able to use my WVO.
In light of this, I have the complete car so can poach parts off the loom etc.
I've also bought the cradles, sumo and oil pick up so, I'm getting somewhere!

Not sure about fitting a sumo, a lot of extra weight.

I presume that it's an AEF engine. Good choice! I changed my 1.6 diesel to the AEF and it's good. It will work well with the petrol gearbox ratios too.
You may have found it already, but there's a complete guide to fitting the AEF engine at http://www.brick-yard.co.uk/forum/16cs- ... KW=#413096" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
We did 2500 miles round Portugal last year and managed 36.5 MPG overall.
You will need a standard diesel dipstick and tube.
Any questions just ask.
Good luck!
1.9D (AEF) pop-top. Aaaaahhhhh........that's better.
