15" mefro Steels - Tyre & Fixings Advice Please
HI
Im thinking of 15" mefro's for the van instead of the 14" Syncro steels but I'm a bit unsure of a few things. I have done a fair bit of searching & reading but Im still unsure of what tyres to go for. The van is having a 2.5 scooby installed.
Firstly I know the mefros need different fittings as per this thread...I cant see any on Bricky anyone know anywhere in the UK to order them?
http://forum.club8090.co.uk/viewtopic.p ... o#p7999412
Now to tyres, this thread was helpful but I'm wondering if there is anything new in the last 12 months, planning on 215 75 R15
http://forum.club8090.co.uk/viewtopic.p ... o#p7975279
The main options seems to be BFGs, General Grabbers, this thread was interesting to read too and rates Coopers
http://forum.club8090.co.uk/viewtopic.p ... lit=cooper
So I'm wondering what is the best tyre to buy at a good price? Van will do some off roading nothing too aggressive and more road miles so a quiet on the road is a requirement. Its sad to say but I do like the meaty look with the white text around the tyres
cheers

I looked at the Cooper A/T3 and they only have 215/70R16
for 15" the option is 225/70R15

Re: 15" mefro Steels - Tyre & Fixings Advice Please
I was in the very same position at the start of the year..
I've had multiple set ups and now I am on cooper at3's using 215/70/16 which is only 0.53% bigger than the commonly used 215/75/15 with bfg's.
I have found it to be a great tyre overal, the independent reviews are very positive too.
I was also under the impression a 16" wheel might allow different / bigger brakes, but I could be wrong.
If I was keeping my 14" carats, I would opt for the yoko y354's.
Sorry, I know you said you were after 15" wheels, but thought that might give you something else to ponder on!

Bought my 15" Mefros from Brickwerks, 215 75 15 is the normal choice, be sure to remove the brake drum retaining bolt before fitting

Re: 15" mefro Steels - Tyre & Fixings Advice Please
Ha ha, i have been there Baz.... thought the wheel was buckled or bearing was falling out the hub! ha!
Just for the record keith, I have 6J 15" Mercedes wheels ET 31 with 235/75/15 tyres on. (General Grabber AT2).
I can just get my finger between the tyre and the trailing arm...
i think its raised about 50mm all round.
I will at some point be going to Mefro wheels with 215/75/15s (BF Goodrich Mud terrains) and the 2 inch lift springs from go westy... as apparently the ride quality is delicious.
thanks

Did you have to modify the arches for the 16" wheels or lift it ?

I put a set of the Cooper At/3's on my Missus 4x4 truck and was really impressed with them so put the same on my Syncro, feels very sure footed.

Hey, just replied to PM but for everyone else's benefit.. They fitted with no issues at all on my standard 14" heavy west on tired springs and dampers. I am very impressed with them
