Westy LPG regulator leak

Post by ninja.turtle007 »

I have noticed a very small leak of gas from the regulator on my westy gas tank. It's from the small orange button shaped part. It does seem to have a very small vent hole in it.

Not sure if this is fixable but I thought I would ask before forking out €65 plus shipping from Gunzl.

pretty sure that is a kind over pressure leak off, you'll probably find it has vented at some stage and hasn't reseated right. Not a lot you can do really other than replace.

Thanks. Maybe a little tap might help then. I'll try later.

Could this be the result of filling tank whilst valve is open?

Could well be, but don't forget the part is old and diaphragms fail. It could well be letting through twice the mbar its meant to. No harm giving it a tap, may well work but there is no saying if it will do it again.
If it was mine, id replace it.

Just had a look up... hole is for air so the diaphragm can work. Gas coming out means diaphragm is knackered=replace

Okay, thanks for the help.

I'd best order a new roof canvas too, to make the shipping cost worthwhile. :D
