Larger tyres on 18s?
Brought our T25 home yesterday, driving from Derby to Merseyside. Great to be driving a T25 again but a very hard ride.
I'd like to keep the 18 inch alloys which are currently on 225/40/18 with spacers. Lowered 50 (I think) Could someone please tell me if it's possible to get larger tyres on the 18s, if so what size are people using? I'm not too concerned re the effects on speedo and a larger diameter should reduce revs a bit...1.9D 1Y engine.
Many thanks in advance

Thanks, it's good to know I can squeeze a bit of extra wheel width without any other adjustments.

No 18's. Slightly oversize but not effected the drive ability.

Nice one! let's have a pic if you've got one.
I put 225/45/18 s on the rear today. If I can squeeze something larger yet on the rear I may transfer these to the front.

Are these 18" tyres load rated high enough for these vans?

Re: Larger tyres on 18s?
FWIW, I have XL rated 215/50 and 245/45 on 17" on a tintop, 95 and 97 rated but its basically a 5-seat car with curtains.
95 load rating is the absolute minimum but leaves no room for error.

Mine are rated to 98 which I believe are rated high enough.
Wouldn't go any lower for a camper though.

Re: Larger tyres on 18s?
bearing in mind what my vehicle is
I had 245/45s on the back which suited the jx engine quite well, then I went tdi so put 255/55s on
I was running a standard 3H box with a 25mm adapter on the rear, because I don't have the rear wheelarch problems you guys have the major problem for me was the welded seam on the swing arm.
If I had fitted 255/60s then the seam would have needed work to clear the tyre
on the idea of reducing revs with bigger tyres beware of going too far, it is all too easy to find yourself 'in-between' gears where you are continually up down up down with the gears as the engine drops in and out of its torque band
