Best sealant for patching up bodywork below window seal?
Ok, I know that the only real solution is to replace the seal after repairing the body work, but lets say that someone has a hole in the bodywork just below the window seal and wants to plug it temporarily, and knows that silicone sealant is bad for bodywork, what would you use? Asking for a friend honest

Duck tape. There is no patching solution. You either fix it or you don't. If its at a stage where you can see the rot, you don't need anyone to tell you what must be done. Otherwise its like putting band-aid on a severed arm.
You've read it I'm sure but for anyone who hasn't: http://wiki.club8090.co.uk/index.php/Bo ... well_leaks" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

In this instance, the effects of silicone on metal wouldn't concern me, you'll be doing remedial work in the near future anyway.
Why would the glass be anything other than half full?

Although I've yet to see silicon work in this application. It just doesn't bond properly. Works great on fish tanks but not much else. Gaffer tape however sticks like poo to a blanket, as long as its dry when you apply it. a bit of filler and then gaffer tape might make it last a bit longer though.
I can't believe I'm even thinking in these terms but sometimes you have to do what you have to do. I had to do similar to bottom of front panel a month ago until I can get in there and replace it all. Its not a pretty sight.
Just don't get complacent and leave it another year or you'll have way too much work to do.
