16" wheel et

Post by suf500 »

Hi, looking into buying some 16" ronal r50 aero wheels, I've searched for the correct "et" but I'm getting a bit confused as to what that size is, so if someone could point me in the right direction I'd be grateful!!! They are 7.5j
Rims, also am I right in thinking that 225/55/16 tyres are the correct ones to go for
Many thanks :D

Looking online there's quite a few different offsets available in that style of wheel...ET38,ET45 and ET50.

You need the ET38 version but you'll still need 10mm spacers,longer rear studs and front bolts.

You're correct about the tyre size...225/55/16 but 215/60/16's can also be used.

Hang fire before ordering......how much?!? :shock:

Anyway...not sure where you're thinking of buying them from but looking at the Wheelbase website they say the alloys are available in offsets from ET25 to ET50?
http://www.wheelbasealloys.com/alloy-wh ... ed/16-inch" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

ET25 would work in 7.5"X16" without the need for spacers on the front.

I know££££!!!!!! Performance alloys do the same wheels for roughly £300 less but seemed to only list et38 but I'll call them tomorrow to see if I can get et25 if that's the right et to go for,
my van is a little bit of a one off and choosing the right style of wheel has been difficult!!! been off the road for over 2yrs having a makeover (time/money etc), it was running 18" wheels before so (seems I've grown up a bit in that time as we'll) I chose those ones as 1) I like them 2) they're quite a high load rating !!!
Thanks again for taking the time to help

Just had a thought...hope you've not ordered the wheels yet...looking at the design of the R50's you may have trouble fitting the centre caps with ET25 due to the front grease caps and the rear castle nuts protruding through the wheel centre?

Ideally I'd suggest trial fitting different different offsets(probably not an option?) as it could end up being a very expensive mistake if you buy them only to find out you can't fit the centre caps.

Hi I have ordered them, although ronal say that they only come in an offset of et38 as the smallest, wasn't overly concerned about centre caps as I have a mate who can machine something if required... I know it's a lot of money to throw at a set of wheels that won't fit straight on but I thought it was a good compromise between looks and safety (which until now hasn't always been on top of my list of priorities)... :roll:
