Tin top Headlining.
I've been searching for a decent replacement headlining for my Carravelle for a few weeks. I've turned up a few links for varying price ranges. I've also seen the measurements in the Wiki.
There's this one from newton commercial. Not cheap but looks good quality..
http://www.newtoncomm.co.uk/cars/vw-cam ... ucts-3484/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Ive also found a guy in Blackpool called DB Car Trim, a full length Headlining is £150 plus two metres of material for the pillars at £20.
http://www.dbcartrim.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
There's also a guy on eBay that does them.
http://item.mobileweb.ebay.co.uk/viewit ... 1069800110" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Anyone got any different sources?
Has anyone lined the roof with Ply/Carpet from Megavan mats? Any detailed pics of the technique?
Also has anyone ever fitted one themselves before? Any tips or links to a guide would be fantastic.

The other option is to carefully remove yours and make a new one from that as a template. Its easy enough to sew the loops for the stretcher wires on a sewing machine if you (or a friend) can use a sewing machine. You can get a smilar material to original (ie the perforated stuff) or something more luxurious. If I remember rightly theres a pattern in the downloads section (or may have seen it elsewhere) for the loop spacing measurements.

I did think of that but I think it would look pretty scruffy if I did it. I cant sow for toffee! And unfortunately there were parts of my Headlining that were burnt or just plain old missing. It went in the bin a while ago.
On another note......This link shows a headlining being fitted into a bay, Its not exactly the same but it looks pretty similar. Its by far the best guide ive found so far.

I got a five meter roll of perforated vinyl for £50, got my mum's friend to sow the rod tubes following the wiki and fitted it myself - front to back. Really isn't that hard just take your time.

Looks like you did a decent job. However is doesnt look wide enough for a caravelle. IE around the window apetures etc. Thanks for the pics.

Re: Tin top Headlining.
I've got the DB one, carpeted around the windows though so again it's just across the roof, nicely done though and fits well, sure it wouldn't be too difficult to make one/ get one made with the template on the wiki/brickies wiki. if I was to do it again I might look at vinyl down and around the windows.

Re: Tin top Headlining.
Nothing really decent I'm afraid
really ought to take more and better pictures.
I've got a sun roof inbetween the two sliding doors and the headlining bows were modified to suit this. I had Dave modify his standard headlining to move the bow sleeves and it looks great.
Carpet lining has been re-done since these pictures, got some body work going on when I've had the carb sorted so have to strip it so maybe I'll take some more pictures after that.

Re: Tin top Headlining.
Hi gtavalanche, looking to do my headlining soon. Did the kit from DB come with the vinyl for the pillars too? I don't have any bars or other bits of kit required to fix in either, do you know where I might pick them up? I'm going to get the gear and then get a trimmer to fit for me as I have a sunroof, and also don't really want to take the windows out myself.
Cheers for any help you can offer
