Just been outside and heard a hissing sound.
My tyre valve stem is leaking about half way up the stem! Drove the car about 24 hours ago no problem and it's just been sat on the drive (in the sun) this morning. Very strange!
Just fortunate it didn't happen last week while we were on holiday or whilst on the motorway!

Re: Tyre valve stem leaking!
Ayup mate....shrader valves are made of neoprene rubber and just like the tyres themselves, they go hard and perrish.
These valves are routinely replaced every time the tyres are changed but as campers do relatively low mileages, the tyres and valves often degrade before they actually wear out.
If you are passing my work in Nottingham I could put a new one in it for you but it's along way to come for a £1.50 valve.

Re: Tyre valve stem leaking!
thanks for the offer, as you say, might cost me more in in fuel even with LPG!
It was such a coincidence that I walked outside at the time it happended. And I'm pleased it happened on the drive rather than while travelling to/from the New Forest with a van full of kit and family.
The tyre is nearly down to the wear bar so I'll get it all done in one go.
See you soon.
