Driving with fridge on gas
Is it safe to drive with the fridge running on gas instead of 12v ? have not tried this maybe the airflow through the air intake for the fridge blows it out the flame or is there a safety issue here ?

I have done, along with others on here, for decades. I have never had the flame go out ever. All you need to remember is to turn it off before entering a fuel station.

Re: Driving with fridge on gas
We haven't had our van long and have 12v/gas fridge. We have only ever used it on gas and when stationary.
I'm not sure about any safety issues about using gas when moving, but is it not better to switch to 12v? (although I haven't got round to trying this myself - it was just a thought). It would save gas for a start!

Re: Driving with fridge on gas
nothing wrong with running on lecky on the move, but i think you ned to chill it beforehand on gas or 240v, depends on how good the fridge is, in my case it gets lit the night before and stays lit for weeks when away (except for forecourts)

I've done this loads, too. Never had a problem, and it's never blown out.

Thank you guys I will do that, the gas heating is much more efficient than electric (I know I have a gas tumble dryer) and my fridge draws 5 amps on 12v so alternator would be working hard, almost like having all your headlamps on all day.
