15 or 17 inch BRM's on lowered T25

Post by t25holdsworth »

I have a 1991 T25 camper which I am considering buying some new wheels for. Its ride height is very high, so im thinking about lowering it by around 50-60mm, and then fitting some of the new better quality BRM wheels which seem to be available now. My questions are, Has anyone fitted these to a lowered T25 and have you any pictures of them fitted ? (cant find any on tinternet) Will 17" versions fit ? or is it best to stick with 15"s ? Will my van require and further mods to fit these wheels ?? What tyre size is best to use with them ?
I know some dont rate the BRM wheels but it seems that there are a few different companys out there reproducing them..And I happen to like the look of these wheels. they would really suit the angular look of the van..
Thanks :ok

I have attached 15" BRM5's to my van. (From VW Herritage)
Its lowered by 60mm (JK Kit) and I did have to change the rear studs to the longer ones, with spacers on the front to get past the calipers..

That looks great, thats the look im after. Sits very well at that height, just right.
Can you tell me the size spacers used on the fronts, and what size tyres did you end up using ?
Have you found any problems with this set up ?
Regards
Mark

Thanks :)
I think the spacers are all at the front and needed to use both the 10mm and 8mm on each front wheel (18mm) i was worried that this would put too much pressure on the wheel bearings, but its not had any problems in the three years that the wheels have been fitted.
As for tyres I think that they are bridgestones.. I will check on Friday when I get up to the paintshop to see how the respray is coming on..
He's currently looking a little sad for himself..

So you've fitted 18mm spacers to wheels that already have too low a offset for a T25 and now they have a negative offset of -6ET

Now they sit 45mm further out than VW intended....amazing!
There's no 'r' in bought!
