Been doing bits slowly, fitting around work and family etc. I remember saying when I started that it would take at least a year. That was 11 months ago. If anyone asks now (they periodically do) I say the same thing!

End of the crossmember being replaced.

Putting on the JP. Pretty "pooh" photo, more tomorrow maybe.

Excellent progress! I’ll have to go in and do something now haha!
Welds look good inside the sill. Did you bevel the edges of the chassis section? Its a bit easier and ensures better penetration with thicker stuff.

No, putting the chassis section on I used these

which ensures a bit of a gap, so no bevel needed. For the JP, I turned the mig up to full and ran a bead down the JP which just caught the chassis at the edge of the bead to include it.

I use those clamps too.
Check your bolt and washer will fit, you may need to clearance the inner rear weld a little for the washer to sit flush and adjust up and down. Better to do it before you forget, paint it and then have to cut into it again, ask how I know
You may need to build up the lip on your sill again where you welded it to the JP, the arch panel meets it with a 15mm or so flange vertically that you would spot or puddle weld. Otherwise it will leave a gap to the interior of the van.
Definitely firmly on! Proper belt and braces, nice work.

Thanks for the tip about the bolt and washer!

Aye, I was doing that edge of the sill with it set too high, it’s not that structural, I was just wanting to fill the gap for protection, but burned through it proper! I’ll have to practice my upsidedown welding too, definitely messy! I reckon a short burst, then another but without letting it cool too much. On the whole, pleased

Pulled in the C pillar...

And then, cleaned up some rusty edges and trial fitted the reinforcement piece and closure.

But I need to fill this hole first, now I know what shape it is!

:ok

Haven’t tried a refit of the swing arm yet... and there’s been no panel work yet, but it all seems to be going in the right direction.

Looking good Roger, hope that swing arm hangs straight, the welds look too good to grind off!
