Ah thanks. May I ask, how would you blank it off? Thinking about push fit plumbing...

I doubt that would work because of the lip
I'd use a bit of rubber water pipe and a cut off bolt, cut off the threaded part so there is just the smooth round part left.

I got this wrong, I thought diesels reved lower but not T25 diesels it seems

ALD 5.5x0.85 x 945 (revs per min standard tyres 70mph) gives 4400 rpm at 70mph
a typical ABD box of 4.83x0.85 gives 3900 rpm at 70mph

Interested to know how this drives, ALD has a 5.5 final drive ( DG is normally 4.83) as its a diesel box so that means ( As far as I know) that your revs are much lower for a given speed but I guess you can just use a lower gear. Might be interesting to know how it drives on a motorway, revs always seem far too high but perhps its needed.

I would say that t25 Diesel engines do operate at lower rpm than petrols . Gearing was lower than for petrol but this would be offset by the fact that vehicle would be incapeable of great road speed because of the low horsepower.

Gearbox today.

Sump plug had a lot of filings on it, I imagine most are like this.

I have a new gasket for here, once I’ve got all the silicon off it!

I don’t have a tool to get the sump plug out so I’m failing with an upside down bolt head.

Scrubbed up alright. Any suggestions on getting the sump plug out, gratefully received. Update: Ordered a tool.

Can’t continue until I can get these oil plugs out.

I’m also expecting the revs to be high too, but I imagine the 1,9 won’t take me much beyond 65 anyway so I can live with it for a bit. Be interesting to share the stats. anyway, for all to see.

Had a scoot through realoem.me last night but can’t find the VAG No. for the tin wear that holds the water reservoir and I need one.
