Rigged up a generator so I can have light in my remote garage, while the days are short.
Not great photos, but just to show some progress. Green coil, late airbox, late exhaust. I have the bleed rail in too and starting to get my head around this late cooling system. I can’t say I’m a fan of it or the late exhaust system either, but never mind, it’s on now. The exhaust silencer has the wrong flange removed so its won’t butt up to J-Tube, this may explain why it’s been doing the rounds with us lot. I’ll cut the flange off the other scrap one to make it work.
No great rush, but should moving under its own steam soon. Clutch slave needs replacing and bleeding. Alternator can go on now, got all parts ready. The stud on starter solenoid is too short, so bought an extender stud, see how that works. Got a binnacle ready too, so could put that in. Wiring is all there from what I can see, so I’ll do that too. Vacuum on dizzy replaced as I couldn’t hear the diaphragm moving in it. On the whole, making steady progress. Budget so far including singlecab, delivery, parts & tooling = £2.2k

Are you sure you don't have the exhaust the wrong way around, flanges are different each end?
Costs soon add up, I keep receipts but I try not to add it up anymore.

Yeah. They cut off one flange to put a 2.5” pipe on for a tailpipe. Unfortunately it was the wrong end they cut off. Can make good with scrap silencer though.

Can't see any reason you can't fit a LH on the RH with spacers and longer bolts

Found the only redeeming feature in the cabin. Never seen these before. Little torches VAG: 7L6947175a
It’s a bit of a mess in there, otherwise.
..but I’ve stuck a binnacle in, so that’s a start, it needs work.
