Clutch bearing on, no grease as it has a plastic sleeve and lots of clutch dust ends up here I imagine. Not sure whether to grease the spigot though?
*Not much else on mine today, but helped Wilbur prepare his Mk3 Golf AGG engine for his Sika. Deeper sump swap required as it lives it’s life at 50 degrees, but that’s another story (T25 diesel to GTI conversion).

Exhaust. My freebies. Exhaust #1 is scrap, flange gone. So I’m left with the bad boy exhaust.

Top Tip for mild steel refurb. Brush with bleach, leave for 10 mins, scotch pad. Will remove all the minor surface rust. Tailpipe on this too far gone, but you get the idea.

Gearbox mounts arrived. Could in theory put the gearbox and engine in now, but going to mock up late coolant pipes first, when I get some.

I can't find any information in the wiki about gearbox mounts? 5-speed bracket shorter than 4-speed, the bracket that fits on end of gearbox - think I'm ok with that principle. 5-speed being a shorter bracket for the longer gearbox, the extra dog-leg gear.

But the chassis mounts?? Seem to be a selection of them but they all look the same, with different suffixes? 251399201(x) I bought the K variant. Can't see any of the chassis mount schematics on the EKTA websites? (looks like realoem.me got hacked today)

Any help, much appreciated.

...and this extract from coolair is totally confusing. A 1,9W wouldn’t share bracket with a diesel, different height engines.

Rags in holes, far too easy to drop a washer in.

I’ve been looking for a Pierburg Autochoke for my carb. and ended up buying this. It’s in better nick than mine, question is. Is it a 2E3 and not say a 2E2?? Seller didn’t know.

All I know ^^^

129016B is stamped on it, but those were only up to 1985?

I think I’ll just pinch the Autochoke off this.

Brickwerks ensuring Christmas is still happening here. Exhaust J-pipe, coolant pipe, thermostat holder, reservoir, V-belt etc.

my guess is thats a misprint in the book, all golf/jetta are 030 prefix

I think its a 2e3

Just because the vehicles it was fitted to went to 85 does not mean they didn't still make replacements after the date.

Early 2E3 on the right. Fuel outlet missing on the Golf one. I’ll rob the auto-choke off it.
Spec’s different from early and late 2E3’s too. Not sure how to set it up, early as it is or late. I’m thinking early set up as I have an early DG engine. I’m going to pop it into the experts in my village and get Eurocarb to set it up.

Just about make out the numbers off this early 2E3...Anyway, coolant pipes next up. Oilrag’s checking his stash for the big ole front to back pipe, then I can get started [Need to shift this man-flu 1st though!, very boring]

Well, looks like I’m doing this carb. rebuild after all. Bromyard want 400 notes and Eurocarb aren’t interested now I’ve dismantled it, oh well...

Had a practice re-assemble which went well, so I’ll give it a go I think.
