I seem to remember loktite being mentioned in one of the Itchylinks for sealing the stud threads. I might try that when the time comes.

I swapped mine for stainless grub screws as I fitted a deeper pump didn't seal them but it would have been a good idea, there won't be any pressure on the oil so as long as they are sealed at the pump plate they will be fine.

Cheers, as long as the pump to case gasket seals ok there shouldn't be any other route for it to get past the studs. :ok

7 core trailer cable is usually at least 0.5-1.0mm, 8 core is similar (for caravan electrics socket.)

Commenting here on your compression test results:

As you said in the other post, you have new rings. They will still need to bed in so I expect compression will get better as they do that.

At least you have a baseline now.

Yeah, thought I'd better have a base line to check against. :ok
Good point about the rings, it's done over 100 miles now since the re-build. Yorkshire and back will be the big test, hopefully it's bedded in before I hit the nearest motorway at stirling, abt 200 miles away.
I took it for a drive with the radiator covered with a piece of cardboard to make sure my rad fan comes on when it should. (it did)
Didn't want to do that before I'd replaced my temperature gauge sender in case the fan didn't come on and I overheated it without knowing.
All good, on the lower temperature side anyway, didn't want to get it so hot that the second stage came on.
I replaced my thermostat during the re-build too, so tested the old one to keep as a spare.
All worth doing after an overheating issue methinks. :-)
I'm taking a few spares away with us.

Take the spares with you, you won't need the ones you take. :)

It might take a bit longer to bed the rings in, from a running in perspective you might be better off going further East and coming down the A68 & A1 or some other route - I've never done the A7 as an alternate to Penrith so don't know what that is like.

You'll be in the right part of the world for spares, but if you get stuck and need help give me a shout, I'm only an hour and a half away.

Sods law isn't it.
Although I carried an alternator around in the boot of my primera for months, just cos I hadn't got round to putting it in the shed, when I needed it I had it, I changed it at the roadside and carried on. :ok

Thanks for the offer of help if needed, as above, if you hadn't offered I'd have needed help, but as you have, I wont. that's my logic anyway. good to know I have the option :D :D
I see your point about taking a non motorway route for bedding in but any route is going to involve cruising unless I dip in and out among the lorries and vary the revs. I'll put another 60 miles on it before we go anyway if I use it for work.

MOT test passed!!! She shall go to the ball.
But he did point out that my heater hose had been drooping onto the steering shaft do-nut and had worn nearly through so he'd tied it up.

He suggested cutting the pipe and putting a short section of copper in.
Sounds fair enough.
Does anyone happen to know the inside diameter of the heater hoses?
So i can get a bit of pipe before i cut it.
It's abt 23mm outside diameter so 22mm copper should be ok.

I have a piece of tube in mine where it wore through from the drive shaft, somebody must have had some weight in it.

if you hadn't thrown away your large metal water pipe you cold have measured the heater pipe connection, luckily I have one and it's 16mm

I keep lots of old bits for this reason often useful to measure up

Cheers Pual.
I still have my metal pipe in the scrap bin.
I tried a few inches of 15mm copper with olives but wasn't happy with the fit, it was a bit loose.
So I managed to stretch it over 22mm pipe but without olives, a couple of hose clips and it's as tight as a crabs a*** at 50 fathoms,
I couldn't pull it off so I'm happy it won't get blown off.
I closed the heater valve before I cut the pipe and only lost abt 1l of coolant so it didn't take much to bleed it while the front end was on ramps.
Although thinking about it now, maybe I should have raised the back to bleed it as it won't bleed out of the radiator vent.
That's it now, everything's fixed. good to go.
Yeah, right, I'm sure it will throw me a curve ball at some point.

We crossed the border yesterday, running well. I thought it was under-powered until I realised I was going uphill in 4th. Haha...

I don't recognise that border crossing, which route did you take in the end ?

I'm about to tax my Autosleeper for the first time this year, heading over to Rochdale for a party this afternoon so will not be too far away from you.

Delighted to hear she's running well :ok Enjoy yourselves

We came down the A38/A1M/M62.
We're camped in the street outside a mates house.
Not ideal but needs must.
Will be in Todmorden this afternoon.
Enjoy you party. Looks like it's going to be a nicer day than yesterday.

Ah, when I go down the A68 I turn off onto the A697 to go through Coldstream so have only been that route once I think. Six and two threes to be honest, except I know where all the speed cameras are.

We'll be in Littleborough, camping on a friends drive as he's run out of overnight guest space, about 5 miles South from you. Funny old world :)

Must admit the A68 is a nicer route than M74/M6.
I'd go that way again even if it does take longer.

Well the old bus made it down and made it back. :D
Just a few slight exhaust leaks to sort, nothing major.
That's over 1000 miles since the rebuild now and she's running well.
Oil pressure seems to sit around 2 bar when up to running temperature and driving normally, below 2K RPM it drops.
I'll re-seal the oil pump cover and studs but other than that I don't want to become obsessed with it but I'd be happier if it was a tad higher.

We learned from this that we came back exhausted due to the wife's difficulties getting around so have decided not to go down again next month for the VW festival near Leeds. https://www.vwfestival.co.uk/tickets
So we have 2 adult main camping area tickets going begging.
We can't really afford to throw away £95 worth of tickets but if anyone wants them we could come to an arrangement involving cash, van parts or charity donations. We're not looking for full face value.
I'll post em up in the for sale section if no-one reading this wants them.
Same weekend as the T3 bus meet unfortunately.

We'll go somewhere that weekend, just not down south and back.
