Sorry Mark, should have said, my mobile was lost last week, rather strange actually, but still not found.

Patrick probably best to describe campsite, my take was the couple running it have a rather Germanic idea of 'control', elf & safety and security. Emphasising the inconsequential and ignoring the bleeding obvious :)
They wouldn't even let me pay for Matt in advance before he arrived '... as if he didn't get there by 7:30 pm, he might not be allowed in'

A 5-bar gate was involved :D

You can't get a coffee unless you have a meal with it - I was so taken a back when I stopped there for refreshment- after cycling about 25m - that I just left without saying a word!

They really seem to make up the rules on the fly... how she couldn't see she looked ridiculous in her grand daughter's eyes as well as mine when explaining why I couldn't pay for Matt before he arrived I don't know. Loved a fly on the wall camera (as for once I was trying extremely hard to be understanding and reasonable, rather than confrontational)

Yes, that's what i was getting at, was very concious of not reacting to a very bizarre situation... must have worked because having thrust a 20 in her hand, grabbed the forms and filled it out for Matt (guessing his vehicle Reg), and thrust that back to her side of the counter, despite protests, the only wail as I marched out was....

'You absolutely must mobile him (when he's driving btw) to warn about driving around rather than over the drainage ditch* where you've camped"... 'elf and savety.

*It was about 4" deep and 4 foot wide so no prob for a Syncro even at 30 mph

Doug, we should have tried the cup of coffee thing, at about 10 a.m. and seen if beng camped ther made much difference

I've never stayed at a campsite where they had so many rules and regs that it was working the staff into an early grave. If they'd lighten up a bit it'd be much more fun and they'd be more welcoming. A daft selection of nonsensical rules which succeeded in winding themselves and customer up. They'd never win at a TV reality show on hospitality!

The weekend was fab with ideal weather in a stunning part of the country. The campsite was actually rather nice and very spacious, which made for some wonderful early morning misty vistas at sunrise. Thanks for all attending and Pete and Jenny for finding some cracking lanes.
