Another fantastic day with like minded people. Still amazes me how capable these vehicles are even with no functioning diff lock(s)!!

Great too see other vehicles in action, Sherman tank etc. Plus to see the looks on Land Rover drivers faces, jaws dropped mouthing "That's a campervan!!" :rofl

We must go there again and With the locker working I would like to try the pond in the middle.

Thanks to those who organised it. :ok

Pretty sure mine is the only Syncro with a battle scar from a Tank!! 8)

This was to be a Crocker family outing to the AWDC Drive Around with the 6x6,8x8 Heavy Vehicles, but thought I would invite a few of the guys along as well, really enjoyed it,was hoping to see a few more of the heavies but only one tank and a russian 6x6 arrived.the rest were the regular mix of Land Rover based vehicles.
We did find a G-Wagon :) at one stage and an Auto-Union Munga Jeep flying around.
The site is quite amazing covering a vast area with abandoned military tracked vehicles left lying everywhere,no Syncros just yet though!
We hope to go back to the next event in November, money permitting,so if you need to no more?give me a call.
Have taken a few photos as well :ok

That's where I used to do all our training, good in a vehicle crap if your running round it or wading to recover the bogged in tanks!

Those vehicles get regulary moved in and out of the same holes. Sometimes they do a military training day involving all vehicles from 70+ tonne challenger 2's down to land rovers.

If I hear of another one I'll let you all know. It's commonly on the area known as the heath.

If you go 3 miles up the road you have longmoor with a good area to trial your vans or the obvious salisbury plain.

Great pics and looks like you had a good day out, maybe I'll be at the next one :ok

I flooded a Landy in that tank wash I was sat on the roof for an hour and a half till I remembered I had packed my tool box in the back.

Quick washdown jet washed the interior, I parked it back in the hanger and forgot about it for 6 month. It came up for it's service I opened the door to find mushrooms and all kinds of "stuff" growing in there.

Great day out, and thanks for the effort
That was put into the organisation.
Those landrover boys convinced me that
a winch was a handy thing to have!
The best bits for me were crossing the main lanes on those tracks through the woods, especially when your going up and can't see where the crest is!
Had to stop off at the jet wash to sort out the rear
Brakes (drums off).
Those big trucks must have some cleaning to do,
I spent 4 hours with the seats out and the jet washer cleaning.
That sandy water flooded in when we got stuck!
Great to get out with you all

Why d'you think we didn't come... :D

PS. I've just found the tide mark under the seat for when we got stuck in that Devon Mill stream you measured Nick.. came up to the higher step under the seat, but not above. That's where the inverter is now, on the forward step, before it was down in the battery well, and went phutt

I think you did a grand job with the video Lloyd, nice to hear everyone seemed to enjoy it, I had forgotten the sandy nature of the site, though it did wash off very easily
and its filled some of the potholes on the driveway! found about 3kgs. still laying on the sumpguard after I thought Id finished cleaning everything off
