Great Pictures everyone... :ok

Eight of us, all good friends, did a glider flight some years ago from Tibenham with Norfolk Gliding Club. Really enjoyed it but had to wait a while in the club house as it started out as a very foggy/misty day and we certainly didn't get anywhere near as good a pictures in the air as you have...they are excellent :)
Its on the road to Nowhere, no one passes by.
No one comes to Norfolk, without a reason why.

Yes, it's considered a beautiful field (North Field) and the club have been enjoying launching from that spot since about 1966. If you go to their website (D&SGC) you can see some more, and pictures of them flashing along the cliffs of the Jurassic coast to the south.

An interesting fact: A single seater on the winch launch (400 BHP) is said to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 2.5 seconds.

Yes excellent pictures Clive, would like to see more of the lanes as well.

My eldest son Sam learnt to Glide up at that club, it is about 10 minutes from our house. The lads (3 x 15 year old's) would help out all day at the club and in return get discounted junior flights. Unfortunately Sam had to give it up as at 6'5" he could not physically fit in the cockpit.

I learnt to fly gliders at the London Gliding Club on Dunstable Downs. There is something special about gliding that you dont get when in powered flight and it is much cheaper to get into as a hobby.

My uncle was the winch man at the Gliding Club on the top of the Long Mynd. (shropshire gliding club) for many yeras but retired last year.

My uncle was the winch man at the Gliding Club on the top of the Long Mynd. (shropshire gliding club) for many yeras but retired last year.

Now that's a hill and a half Simon. I had a terrific hang glider flight off there in a Griffon, got so much height and it was so smooth that I took my hands off for long enough to see what it did... let it slide into a spiral dive - terrific machine, but could bite (and did a few months later) :(

I also remember clearly picking up thermals from those farms, several thousand feet below, and actually smelling the farmyard smell and seeing a few stalks of wheat fly by... Had a bad reputation for curlover on landing, which could dump you quite badly, sure it was responsible for a few clavicles if not much worse, in the wrong direction

We also helped launch a sailplane that day, not from a winch or aero, but using the time-honoured 'bungee' launch method... you have to see it to believe it

Bungee launch at the Long Mynd, bungee runners just out of shot, duh!

You'd really need the Memory map overlays... and memory map to make it easy. Otherwise, you'd need to copy a proper full-size marked-up map, which takes time and few part with their maps (and turn their backs) .
Best thing though is to come with us next year :)

I spoke with Syncrospares a while back and they said they will hold an off road day some time.

Me and a mate are doing the Barnstaple lanes on thursday on motor bikes and I will report back which ones are syncro suitable.

There are loads around South Molton and on the right hand side of the NDL as you head North.
