Vall d'Aran to Andorra
Jake and Ollie let the cat out of the bag about this route at SP5 and then kindly lent us his (immensely valuable) route bible.... so as Pete and Sharron and me and Jenny were off that way after Devon, that sealed the deal to have a crack...
On the way back now, mid France, but what a fantastic time we've had, so this is just a starter topic for others that might want to try these routes...
Brilliant mountain driving with scenic, botanical, animal and cultural interest at almost every turn, Oh, meteorological too
Pictures and some route maps on return, so if you're planning anywhere South West France, keep an eye out on this topic, you won't regret it..
Yesterday lunchtime we were having a snowball fight at 8,000 ft in Andorra , this lunchtime we were sitting under the Millau Viaduct in hot sunshine... and well on the way back.

The Pyrenees are my second favorite place in Europe, after Corsica that is. They really have an atmosphere about them, especially if you come across a herd of goats with their bells clanging. Very lush and green on the lower French side.

Just to add a thankyou...
We stopped at Simon(TMT) and Tracy's near Gueret on the way down for three days and received wonderful hospitality... clearest night sky I've seen for a long time followed by a ground shaking thunderstorm early morning... a nice reception!
Don't think I'd have made it through the Pyrenees and back up to here without Simon's workshop and help over 2 days, re-engineered some fundamental aspects of the chargecooler and air-filter installation... succesfully!
Just cleaned out the air-filter for the 2nd time, so will be making some notes in the Wiki on diesel filters and very dusty environments - Petes filter in the locker and higher pickup fared better...
Many Thanks Simon and Tracy, I could stop worrying and enjoy the driving after those impromptu 'fixes' - good luck with packing, never an enjoyable task!

Clive, Jenny, Pete, Sharon, Andrew and Georgia.......
You are more than welcome...
It was great to have you visit and as you could tell I was more than happy to get my hands dirty... even on those grubby dweezils...
Shame you coulodnt have stayed a bit longer and we could have gone on a couple of trips locally.. some great sights here, hidden away...
Packing has gone well... although I think the Syncro is on its weight limit.... the trailer was packed and repacked as it was overweight.. some things will have to wait...
See you soon in Blighty....

Hehe, sooner than you thought, photo'd your ferry sailing out of Calais, but don't think the resolution will quite be up to showing you waving back
Anyway, have a small pressie for you Simon, so let me know your new address by PM please
So we're back at last, an hour or so ago, after 2,400 miles (ish)
Dai,
We know you would have loved every minute, but had a bit of a job keeping up on some of the endless climbs on scree, we really romped up some of them Doka style fortunately not seeing anyone for hours at times
You should start planning now, it's all behind us but ahead of you and a tremendous driving and holidaying treat - Jenny and Sharon kept pretty good notes to add to Jakes. You do need ample lazy power once in Andorra... and even in the Vall D'Aran probably a TD or Tdi is a good motor as its virtually unaffected at 8,000 ft (or seemed so).
Don't think we said that we set off directly after two Devon days of CJ style off-roading... who said Syncros aren't strong and reliable ?
...as well as very comfortable and spacious!

What an expedition
Truly was amazing, especially some of those climbs (fully loaded). We left plenty of lanes untouched, so there is loads more to explore.
The weather was pretty good aswell, plenty of sunshine and a couple of amazing thunderstorms.
The only pi$$ off is coming back here and being surrounded with roadworks. How many traffic cones can one country have?
